Greenfield Research offers courses in:

Experimental design and analysis

This course introduces the techniques and supporting software to help all manufacturers to improve their product performance characteristics and the efficiency of their manufacturing processes.

Each course will be presented on the client's premises and will be designed to suit the client's needs. This will require a preliminary visit of one or two days to construct teaching examples related to the client's practical problems.

The course will provide:

  • an appreciation of the applications of experimental design and analysis, including response surface exploration, to the improvement of product performance and manufacturing processes
  • a sufficient understanding of least squares regression analysis for fitting models involving several variables to experimental data
  • the ability to express a practical problem in product or process development as a formal problem for experimental design and analysis
  • some understanding of the management of experiments, including the need for neat and controlled data recording and of randomisation
  • the ability to use WinDEX - a program for the design and analysis of the type of experiment covered in this course
  • the ability to use WinDEX to predict the conditions for optimal or prescribed values of response variables
  • an appreciation of how experimental design and analysis contribute to the wider topic of total quality management (TQM) and statistical process control (SPC)

Process simulation and optimisation

This course can be obtained on a CD, which we will send to you, FREE of charge, within seven days of your request..

Please call us on +44 (0)845 330 2292 or email us at  process@greenfieldresearch.co.uk to order your CD.

The course introduces simulations of two manufacturing processes, for aluminium wheels and for oil filters, which are provided on the CD. Teaching material is also provided. The teaching material comprises a guide for instructors and a work book for students which are provided in PDF format that can be read and printed with an Adobe Acrobat or other PDF reader.

A booklet containing more detailed instructions is also being prepared. This extends the course to show how simulated data can be analysed and presented using Minitab

The simulations are provided for a for a free evaluation period of 14 days. A licence for their permanent use on one PC is available by sending the install key generated by your PC to  process@greenfieldresearch.co.uk and registering the corresponding pass key. The cost of the perpetual licence is £300 or €450.
